THE BAND

The Poodles se formó en el otoño de 2005, y seis meses más tarde participaron en la fase sueca del Festival de Eurovisión, que llevó a gran avance de la banda en su país natal. El álbum de debut, Metal Will Stand Tall, fue editado poco después en Suecia, Japón y Rusia. Subió a lo más alto de las listas suecas, y el primer single, Night of Passion , fue disco de oro en sólo tres semanas, llegando a alcanzar el disco de platino, además de ser la canción más descargada durante tres semanas consecutivas.

The Poodles was formed in the fall of 2005 and six months later they participated in the Swedish leg of the Eurovision Song Contest, which led to the band’s big breakthrough in their native country. The debut album, “Metal Will Stand Tall”, was released shortly thereafter in Sweden, Japan, and Russia. It climbed to the top of the Swedish charts and the first single, “Night of Passion”, went gold after only three weeks and achieved platinum status in addition to being the most downloaded song for three weeks straight.

THE ALBUM

Tras el éxito de Performocracy (2011), la banda optó por volver al mismo sistema para la grabación del quinto álbum de The Poodles, "Tour de Force, que fue lanzado el 17 de mayo de 2013 en Europa y el 22 de EE.UU.

Following the success of “Performocracy”, the band chose to return to an identical set-up for the recording of The Poodles’ fifth album, “Tour De Force”, which was released on the 17th of May in Europe and on the 22nd in North America.

Tour de force  (2013) es una verdadera demostración de fuerza y combina todos los atributos que los fans han llegado a esperar de la banda, melodía, actitud, humor épicas y un mensaje positivo sobre tomar el control de tu vida.
Tour De Force (2013) is a true show of strength and combines all the attributes that fans have come to expect from the band, melody, attitude, epic moods and a positive message to take control of your life.

Durante el año 2006, la banda llegó a hacer más de 100 conciertos en Suecia y en enero de 2007 Metal Will Stand Tall fue lanzado en Europa por AFM Records. Con esto, The Poodles de gira por toda Europa junto con Hammerfall y Krokus, haciendo 31 conciertos en 18 países en sólo 35 días.

During 2006, the band did more than 100 live shows in Sweden and in January 2007 “Metal Will Stand Tall” was released in Europe on AFM Records. In connection to this, The Poodles toured all over Europe together with Hammerfall and Krokus, doing 31 shows in 18 countries in just 35 days.

THE INTERVIEW

La música de The Poodles  suena como una bella mezcla del  Hard Rock con el Heavy Metal, sonidos de los 70 y los 80, una gran dosis de rabia y una gran pasión por la música, y la fuerza de The Poodles. Entonces, ¿cuáles son vuestras influencias musicales reales?

Muchas de las bandas que han sido la banda sonora de nuestras vidas, como Aerosmith, Mötley Crue y Guns & Roses, pero también grupos británicos Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest y Black Sabbath. Estas son algunas de las bandas que tenemos como inspiración en común, pero creo que nuestro sonido muchas más influencias de forma individual. Somos una banda de variado interés musical y fondo musical, por lo que esta mezcla es la base de cómo salen las cosas.

The music of The Poodles sound like a beautiful mix between Hard Rock with Heavy Metal, sounds of the 70 and 80,  a large dose of rage and a great passion for music, and the punch of The Poodles . So, what are your real musical influences?

A lot of the bands that have been the soundtrack to our lives, like Aerosmith, Mötley Crue and Guns & Roses but also British bands Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath. This is some of the common inspiration that we have but I think our sound has a lot of other significant individual inspirations as well. We are a band with a various musical interest and musical background so this mixture is the foundation of how things turn out.

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre la música de The Poodles  en la actualidad y su música hace 6 años?

Bueno, yo no veo gran diferencia en nuestros álbumes, aparte de que somos una banda en evolución, GRACIAS A DIOS, y estamos en constante movimiento a los largo de las autopistas del  Rock & Roll, haciendo nuevos y grandes discos con todo el alma y corazón, con todo lo que podemos dar y esto es todo lo que toa grana banda hace y debería de hacer. Rara vez pienso en estilos cuando escribo, elijo las cosas que me ponen la piel de gallina y que pegue.

What is the difference between the music of The Poodles  today and your music 6 years ago?

Well I can't see the big difference in our albums apart from that we are a band in development, THANK GOD, and we are simple moving along the great highway of Rock&Roll, doing new great records with our full hearts and souls, at the top of our ability and that's what every great band do and should do. I very seldom think in genres when I write, I just go for things that give me goosebumps and stick to that.

¿Por qué has titulado "Tour de force" a vuestro  último álbum?

El álbum entero es nuestro Tour De Force. Es una declaración de la energía, un gran logro, le hemos dedicado mucho tiempo y sentimos que somos más fuertes y tenemos más energía que nunca, con nuestra destreza y experiencia para hacer lo que queremos, con la voluntad de dar la vida y nuestro amor a este estilo de música,  y la falta de respeto suficiente para romper las convenciones que rodean los diferentes géneros de la música. Estamos muy orgullosos de este gran álbum y espero que os guste.

Why do you have titled “Tour de force” your last LP?

The whole album is our Tour De Force. It's a power statement, a great achievement, we been around for a while and feel we are stronger and more energetic than ever with the skills and experience to do what we want with the will to give life and love to this style of music and disrespectful enough to break the conventions we want that surrounds different genre of music.

We are very proud of this great album and I hope you enjoy it.

¿Qué vamos a encontrar diferente en éste CD de otros álbumes anteriores de The Poodles?

Es diferente en el sentido de que tenemos cada vez más y más confianza en lo que estamos haciendo, en hacia dónde queremos ir y cómo llegar allí. Hemos pasado una buena etapa, y hemos estado más tiempo de lo habitual ensayando y creo que esto se refleja en el sonido y su energía. Hemos repetido colaboración con nuestro fantástico productor Mats Valentin, que es también un factor de tranquilidad, por lo que el trabajo de grabar este álbum ha sido más de un buen rato que cualquier otra cosa. Muy productivo y estimulante.

Creo que encontrareis grandes partes de "Tour de Force" que son realmente como puñetazos de rock & roll, pero como siempre, en este álbum, tenemos algo épico y material orquestado, este elemento siempre ha existido en mi punto de vista, y está, en este caso.

What's we will be finding different in this CD from other previous The Poodles’ albums?   

It's different in the sense of that we're getting more and more confident in what we're doing, where we want to go and how to get there. We had a good and longer rehearsing period than usual and I think this reflects on the sound and energy. Our repeated cooperation with our fantastic producer Mats Valentin is also a calming factor so the work of recording this album has been more of a good time than anything else. Very productive and inspiring.
I think you'll find big parts of "Tour De Force" is really kick ass rock&roll but as always we have some epic and orchestrated material on this album, this element has always been around in my opinion and so it is on this one.

Esta no es la primera vez que actúas en concierto en España. ¿Qué vas a ofrecer en vivo, y qué esperas del público español en tus conciertos?

El público español siempre nos ha tratado genial y tenemos muchas ganas de hacer otra gira con el apoyo de la gente guapa de España.

This is not your first time in concert around Spain. What are you going to offer in your live concerts and what do you hope from the Spanish people in your shows this time?

The Spanish crowd has always treated us great and we really looking forward to have another round with the beautiful, supportive people of Spain.

¿Qué vais a ofrecer en vivo, y qué esperáis del público español en vuestros conciertos?

Pues llegamos con el nuevo álbum y gran energía para hacer grandes los tres concieretos, y creo que vamos a estallar juntos. Sin embargo, realmente nos gustaría llevar nuestra propia producción a España pronto, y espero que esto pueda suceder en breve.

What are you going to offer in your live concerts and what do you hope from the Spanish people in your shows this time?

Well we come with a new album and great energy to do three great shows and I think we'll have a blast together. However we would really like to bring our own production to Spain soon and hope this can happen soon.

¿Hay alguna sorpresa o planes alternativos para vuestra gira de 2014?, ¿algo que podáis anticiparnos? ¿Cuándo un nuevo disco?

Estamos negociando con algunos festivales muy interesantes, y espero que podamos venir de forma oficial, aunque es un poco temprano…

Do you have any surprise or any plans alternative to this tour for 2014?  Can you anticipate anything to us? When a new disc?

We're negotiating with some very interesting festivals and hope to be able to come official with it soon, it's a little to early though….

¿Piensas que el mundo digital va a acabar con el mundo de la música tal y como lo conocemos hoy en día? Cuál es el futuro del músico?

La situación de la pasa es terrible para muchas bandas, y especialmente los creadores y escritores pero veo esto como un período de transición que va a algo mejor. La industria de la música ha sido siempre de carácter cambiante, así que esto es normal en muchos aspectos, pero los últimos 6-7 años han sidos extremos.

Do you think the digital world will end with music as we know it today? What do you think is the future of music?

The currant situation is terrible for many bands and especially the creators and writers but I see this as a transport period going to something good.

The music industry has always been of a changing character so this is normal in many ways but the last 6-7 years has been extreme.

¿Cuál es tu mejor recuerdo en el mundo de la música?

Hay muchos, pero algo que viene a la mente es, por supuesto, el momento en que comprendimos que habíamos estado saliendo en la TV en 2006 y fuimos directos a la final de Eurovisión de Suecia, durante esa noche fuimos la banda de rock en boca de toda Suecia. Otro, es el fantástico viaje que hicimos con Gotthard en 2007; y el primer viaje como cabeza de cartel en 2008; nuestro primer número 1 en las listas de popularidad con "Performocracy" fue un momento muy bonito también ;-)  …pero como he dicho, hay muchos momentos para el recuerdo.

What is your best memory about music?

There are so many but one thing that come to mind is of course the moment we understood that we had reached through the TV screen in 2006 and went straight to the final in the Swedish Eurovsion, over night we were the rockband on everybody's lips in Sweden, another is the fantastic tour we did with Gotthard in 2007, and the first headline tour 2008, our first nr.1 on the album charts with "Performocracy" is a beautiful moment too;-) but as said, there are many moments to remember.

¿Qué piensas de la situación económica actual en Europa y en el mundo en general?

Sin duda, nos estamos movemos en  un periodo duro y de cambios en la situación económica. El sistema democrático se pone en prueba, y es muy importante mantenernos erguidos contra el racismo y las injusticias. De verdad espero que podamos redirigir la tendencia negativa y volver al camino correcto.

What do you think of the current economic situation in Europe, and in the world in general?  

We are definitely moving through some hard periods and shifts in the economical situation. The democratic system is put on test and it's very important to stand tall against racism and unjust behaviour. I really hope that we can turn the negative evolvement and come out on the bright side.
