THE INTERVIEW

The songs of Dead Rabbits sounds like an Dense Rock and Dark Pop with Psychedelic Music and Shoegaze. A mix of styles that results on the personal sound of your music. But, what are really your musical influences?
There's obvious influences from the 60's like the Beatles, Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones, as well as bands like The Chocolate Watchband and The Pretty Things. Moving closer to the present, JAMC, Ride and BJM have clearly influenced what we do.

What is the difference between the music of Dead Rabbits today and your music 5 years ago?
Five years ago when we released Self Destruct it was just me and our guitarist Neil writing and recording on an 8 track. These days we record together as a band, our new album was recorded live in one day so the process is completely different to when we started.

What's your inspiration when making your songs?
The two biggest inspirations for me are the music I listen to and the things that our going on in my life. My music is like a diary, a captured moment in my life.

Are you completed your expectations with your last album “Everything is a lie”? What do you expect from this album?
I don't expect anything, if people listen then I'm happy, if not I don't mind. We make music we like, if we're happy that's all that matters.

What do we will see and enjoy in your live concerts?
We are a live band, playing together is what we do. When we play the main focus is the music, we want the audience to immerse themselves in the sound.

Is this your first time in Spain? What do you think about the Spanish crowd? What do expect from them?
We've played in Spain a couple of times. It's a beautiful place so we take any opportunity we can to come. There's a lot of really good bands as well, Spain's music scene seems to be getting better and better.

What are your plans for this current year 2016 and next 2017? We assume that you will touring around clubs and festivals. Can you advance anything to us? Any important event?
Your right in saying we will be touring, we currently have a few things lined up this year, including another European tour in November. As for our other plans, I wish I could tell you more, unfortunately you'll have to wait.

Do you think the digital world will end with music as we know it today? What do you think is the future of music?
I'm not 100% sure, the digital world makes it a lot easier to get access to music but at the same time it can be a negative thing for artists. Governments should do more to protect the art but at the same time I wouldn't want to see someone get in trouble for illegally downloading their favourite band. Music faces a moral problem, digital music can be good for everyone. The world just need to understand the process, the effort artists put into creating music and the value that it holds.

What is your best memory about music?
I've got loads of good memories, one of my favourites is going to watch Spiritualized play Ladies and Gentlemen we are Floating in Space at the Barbican in London with my mother.

How is a normal day in the life of a member of Dead Rabbits?
I dedicate most of my time to making music but alongside that we've all got normal jobs, the bills need to be payed, food needs to be put on the table. I do whatever I can, from recording other bands to building houses and making furniture.

What do you think about the current economic and social situation in the World in general?
It doesn't bare thinking about, we're on a road to ruin. Everyone has a solution but no one agrees. Eventually everyone loses, there will be no winners. I only can only hope that something triggers change, for now though I can't see things getting any better. Fear has the world under control.
